The story:
Randa Sami Al-Ilmi Library was established by the Palestine Charity At'a Association on 02/05/2006, at the headquarters of the Association for the Physically Disabled, funded by the family of Dr. Zuhair Al-Ilmi.
The student Yasmin Kaheel studies at Shams Al-Amal School, affiliated with the Motor Disabilities Association. She suffers from a motor disability; she previously used a wheelchair, then after some time, she began using two crutches, then one crutch, until she was able, thanks to her determination to challenge her disability and continuous physical therapy, to overcome her disability and walk without any aid tools.
She also experienced shyness, introversion, and isolation, even in the classroom, something her teachers and classmates noticed when she was seven years old. Her teachers decided to include her among the library friends in the hope that she might overcome her introversion. Indeed, the librarian, Mrs. Fathia Al-Mashharawi, welcomed the student Yasmin and included her among the library's friends and regular visitors. She worked hard to involve Yasmin in all the activities and events carried out in the library. Gradually, Yasmin began borrowing more than one book or story since she was seven years old, and later she started summarizing each story she read and narrating it to her classmates during library class.
Praise be to God, after Yasmine was not proficient in reading, she has, by the grace of God, become the best student in reading as well as in expressing what she reads. She has also overcome her shyness and introversion and has become a diligent student who interacts naturally with her classmates and teachers. She has also excelled in her lessons, and today she is among the top students in the school, thanks to the presence of the (Randa Sami Scientific Library) at the premises of Shams Al-Amal School affiliated with the Motor Disabilities Association, which supports and nurtures the children’s talents there.
